I Am Science from Mindy Weisberger on Vimeo.

  • hege

It was increibly brave of you to write that blogpost, Kevin. Writing a story for a book is something I could get very excited about, though time is a severely limited (limiting?) resource.

In the mean time, let me see if I can work up the courage to publish a blogpost I’ve been working on for a year and a half, about leaving science behind. I’ve allways had a keen interest in theory, but sadly, my skills were at the conseptual and analytical rather than the mathematical and quantitative level. So I ended up doing experimental stuff, and didn’t exactly excel…

But while I remain a biologist to the core, I’ve managed to find something else meaningful to do, a job I enjoy and collegues I positively adore. Most of all, I love being able to cooperate and that we instead of competing give each other a leg-up.

  • I think that is they component that was missing for me. Cooperation. Are we not all in this together to advance science?? Would love to hear more about what you are up to and leaving science. I am about to transition myself as my wife and I are blindly up and leaving to move to Sweden this Spring! Not sure what I’ll do yet, but have a couple applications in and may just try to freelance it.
